If being smuggled into the United States can eventually earn you legal status, then is applying for legal status through normal procedures meaningful? Should we support giving undocumented immigrants legal status? The boycott on May 1 can be a way to express the power of undocumented immigrants, or it can help ignite anti-immigrant sentiments. To logically consider the immigration issue, we must first fine tune our focus. The government should not issue a blanket acceptance of undocumented immigrants, which is unfair to legal immigrants who have been waiting their turn in the immigration process.
